NOW HIRING – Associate Store Team Leaders in Training - ASTL Program!
(ASSISTANT STORE GENERAL MANAGERS)
The Northeast Region is building our newest team of talent for Leadership roles in 2021.
The ASTL will participate in a hands-on, fast track, high growth training path in preparation to assume all duties of the ASTL.
In the course of the program, Leaders In Training candidates will operate with the partnership and guidance of existing STLs (Store Team Leaders/ Store General Managers) for knowledge sharing and dedicated training.
Store locations will be in the following geographic locations:
New York City: Manhattan and Brooklyn
Long Island: Nassau and Suffolk County
New Jersey: North and Central
What you should know:
Program may last approximately 6-12 months and covers all aspects of Whole Foods Market operations.
Travel may be required in this program.
The assimilation curriculum will include movement and exposure at multiple stores throughout NY, NJ and CT to understand variances in volume, pace, locality and operations. Store locations may include:

An Associate Store Team Leader(ASTL) role at one of our 47 stores across the Northeast Region. You will join an elite group of fearless leaders who have made the Northeast a powerhouse region for Whole Foods Market.
As ASTL, you will partner in the leadership of a Whole Foods Market store– with accountability for all aspects of store success, metric accountability and Team Member Happiness.
Requirements
2+ years experience in retail leadership role
Strong knowledge of retail operations: inventory and merchandising, labor management, cost control, P&L, safety
Proficiency in managing high volume, fast paced teams, with a focus on employee relations and team building
True understanding of service and hospitality for our valued guests and team members
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
Ability to multi-task, show excellent follow-through and see the big picture
Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building and leadership skills
Basic computer skills
High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
