Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Residence Life develops a vibrant residential community with an emphasis on the sense of belonging. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Affairs, this position is responsible for undergraduate, graduate, and family housing.

This position has a live-on apartment if desired but is not required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of a residential community of approximately 275 students with a primary focus on the sense of belonging and student success.
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student and professional staff.
- Collaborate with Resident Assistants, the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, and the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Campus Life to facilitate outcomes-based programming that aligns with the University's mission and identity.
- Collaborate with Public Safety, who serves as the primary 'on-call' staff for residence life, to maintain a safe living and learning environment for students in residence.
- Enforce policies and procedures, respond to crisis situations, and act as a conduct hearing officer.
- Manage contracts, housing assignments, and room changes via The Housing Director software and collaborate with Buildings and Grounds on facilities management.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.
- This role does NOT play a primary function in the management of COVID-19 - other staff on campus hold those responsibilities.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Higher Education or equivalent
- Professional student affairs/residence life experience required
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
- Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group processes and foster collaborative decision making
