Summary of PositionThe position is responsible for assisting the Associate Dean and Director of International Admissions with international undergraduate student recruitment goals. This Assistant Director position is responsible for the recruitment and admission of first year and transfer applicants from specific countries or regions outside the United States, as well as international students attending schools within the U.S. It also includes international recruitment travel, as well as evaluation of secondary and post-secondary transcripts, file review for first year and transfer international applications. This position is also responsible for assisting with the coordination and staffing of on-campus programs and online events for prospective students, and the position resides in the Office of Admissions.

Position DescriptionGeneral Purpose of PositionThis position will include extensive travel to countries where Elon has been successful in attracting qualified students, as well as developing new areas for recruitment. This position is also responsible for the recruitment of students with international backgrounds such a dual citizens, resident aliens or foreign nationals living within the United States. In addition to these specific duties within international admissions this position is responsible for general admissions counselor responsibilities, including application review and decision making, daily campus visits and weekend events and general office responsibilities. Also, supports the development of an international recruitment strategic plan as it supports Boldly Elon.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTerritory Management
- Conducts international recruitment travel and virtual outreach within specific countries or a defined recruitment region; travels to regions/countries and independently organizes high school visits, individual interviews, recruitment fairs, and yield events.
- Develops and fosters relationships with college counselors, independent consultants, agents, and other relevant organizations outside of the country.
- Conducts campus interviews/information sessions, in person or virtual with prospective students and their families; advise and counsel them about their college search
- Serves as a liaison with the GEC as the key contact for international students’ processing.
- With the Director of International Admissions, assists in the planning and implementation of the International Counselor Fly-in program
- Assists with appropriate communication targeted to International students and parents
- Manages a personal expense report online via Elon’s procurement card site
- Others duties as assigned
Application Support
- Responsible for reading/evaluating applications for international undergraduate admissions and making decisions or deferring to the Associate Dean of Admissions
- Serves as the Counselor of the Day on a rotating basis, responsible for taking and following up on incoming calls from prospective students, parents, and college counselors
- Assists with the mailing process for decision letters for Early Action and Regular Decision applicants, including verifying each applicant’s status, checking addresses and stuffing envelopes
