ROLE of the POSITION

This position works under general direction of the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing all functions for the TRIO Training grant including conference planning and execution, curriculum development, conference staffing and contracting, participant recruitment and registration, public promotion of services, short and long-term planning, budget tracking and reporting. The Assistant Director will provide direct leadership by supervising, training and evaluating a staff of instructors, volunteers and program assistants for this project. The Assistant Director will serve as an advocate for all CAEO programs, as well as a liaison with the local, state and federal agencies, other TRIO projects, community organizations, and the general public. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring programmatic compliance with federally mandated laws and regulations across all programs and collaborating with programs directors to ensure audit-ready status of records and processes. The Assistant Director is also expected to be a major contributor to the research in support of continuous grant funding and the vision and mission of The Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications Include: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of comparable professional experience working with federal TRIO programs, out of which three (3) years must be in a managerial/supervisory role. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. This position must have excellent speaking and writing skills and must possess exceptional knowledge of TRIO legislation, regulations, project management and operations, and service practices. Significant knowledge and experience in grant writing and/or business writing is required. Must have a complete and thorough understanding of the Title III, Title IV TRIO Programs, grant writing process and grant program management, applicable laws, codes and regulations. Must demonstrate knowledge of counseling and instructional evaluative methods, program coordination and marketing, and supervisory and organizational strategies. Must also demonstrate ability to plan and design curricula for the workshop/research component of the programs, which includes command of the principles and techniques for making effective oral presentations. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently; must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office-productivity software and OMR hardware and software.

Candidate must be able to drive and maintain a valid Nevada driver license. Candidate must be able to pass a background check. Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications Include: Candidate should possess exceptional knowledge of educational psychology and student development issues with focus in working with traditionally educationally or economically disadvantaged students. Significant data management and presentation experience including training in the most up-to-date standards and tools (Microsoft data applications and applicable reporting standards) is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills are critical. The ability to perform multiple responsibilities or tasks simultaneously, work in a self-directed environment, as well as plan and organize on both a daily and long-term basis is critical. Should have ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with participants, TRIO professionals, university staff, and community agencies.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.

Pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 3 passed by the Nevada State Legislature during the 31st Special Legislative Session, employees are required to take furlough at a 4.6 percent monthly reduction in compensation from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.
