Position Summary: The Assistant Director of the Office of Clergy and Parish Services, specifically Clergy, provides the overall vision, leadership and management of the Clergy Services Division.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Provides for the personnel placement of the Archdiocesan clergy in consultation with the Archbishop leads and the Comprehensive Assignments Board (CAB).
- Assists priests for weekend Mass coverage at parishes in need of a substitute in collaboration with the Clergy Services Assistant.
- Provides supervision and oversight for Presbyteral Personnel resources (including hospital and jail ministries), Sabbatical program, and Permanent Diaconate (including Deacon Council).
- Serves as staff liaison to Presbyteral Assembly Committee and with the Clergy Services Assistant oversees budget for the biennial assembly.
- Supervises the Clergy Services Assistant, and with the Chancellor of Civil Affairs the Administrative Assistant.
- Prepares Blue Assignment Checklist Sheets, Human Resource Action Form, and check requisitions to result in the accurate and timely approval of each.
- Collaborates with the Office of Canonical Affairs, Records and Parish Services Specialist in the annual survey of priests and parishes for CAB data.
- Supervises administrative support for the Presbyteral Assembly to result in meeting identified objectives within the defined budget.
- Serves as the Catholic Center’s liaison to the Leo C. Byrne Residence for retired priests.
- Assumes additional responsibility as determined by supervisor including appropriate follow-up to concerns regarding clergy as well as documentation steps taken toward resolution.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to travel within the Archdiocese;
- Excellent Interpersonal skills;
- Ability to adapt to varying environments;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- High level of organizational and planning skills;
- Excellent conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to use discretion and independent judgment in handling sensitive topics of significance;
- Occasional weekend or evening work may be required;
- Must possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
Job Qualifications:
- Five to ten years of experience in Catholic parish or school ministry;
- Must be an active, practicing Catholic with a strong interest in Church’s life and practice;
- An ordained priest or deacon is preferred;
- Four year college degree in a relevant field such as theology, divinity, Catholic education, pastoral studies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, lift, bend, or sit for extended periods of time;
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
