Position Highlights
The Assistant Director staff position will provide administrative and academic support to a variety of grants under Prof. Sonia Shiri. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of grant programming including the supervision of the grant-related academic staff and the administrative staff positions coordinating the grant activities. The position will manage proposal writing preparation and grant financial reporting. They will be the unit liaison to the Marshall Business Center and provide overall program management of the Flagship, Project GO, and Jumpstart. They will ensure the programs and their academic and administrative staff effectively plan, train and execute with close adherence to funding agency, university and college policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
- Support the Director with coordinating the implementation of the day-to-day activities of the programs by the academic and administrative teams in order to meet grant requirements and linguistic and cultural proficiency goals.
- Oversee the academic and administrative coordination of the summer intensive Arabic programs and other grant-related summer programming.
- Manage academic matters pertaining to students in all programs. This includes:
- Proficiency and application evaluation of program applicants (PGO domestic and overseas, Jumpstart, Overseas summer and capstone Flagship, and Flagship)
- Planning and execution of personalized learning and individualized pathways for Flagship, PGO and Jumpstart students
- Coordination of Arabic Oral Proficiency Interview proficiency testing and rating based on ACTFL/ILR scale
- Conducting and coordinating other credit-by-exam and placement assessment and liaising paperwork with relevant UA offices
- Oversee academic outreach/recruitment efforts on campus and in high schools
- Articulation within the programs and with high school or overseas partners, dissemination of program best practices to other Flagship and PGO programs.
- Manage grant proposal preparation efforts including planning curricular articulation and discussing programming terms with overseas partners in Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and elsewhere; manage financial matters and liaise with the coordinators, the business office, and funding agencies where appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Arabic Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or related fields, or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Arabic Linguistics, Applied Linguistics or related fields
