The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, organizing and administration of patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise for his/her assigned unit. The Assistant Director collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care is delivered as well as achievement of desired patient outcomes is met. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Alabama. The Assistant Director of supervises Clinical Supervisors, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Nursing Secretaries, and all other employees within the department. The Assistant Director is responsible to the Director, Associate Directors of Nursing and the Chief Nursing Officer. The Assistant Director complies with the nursing leadership standards set forth by the facility.
Education:
- Must have the required education needed to be a licensed Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- BSN preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with proven leadership ability and two years current experience in the area of specialty preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Must maintain current BLS certification.
