We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as an Assistant Director.

Required Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in a Bursar or Student Accounts setting is required. A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory capacity is also required. Experience with Cash Management/Student Billing or Accounting related field preferred. Customer Service and Operational Management are essential to this position.

Working Hours: Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime and weekend hours are required during peak registration periods.

Salary: The starting salary is $40,000.00.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists students, parents, office staff, and other student services departments with advanced research and analysis of student accounts and makes decisions to resolve complex student account problems or discrepancies.
  • Oversees student refund process including verifying accuracy of cash, credit card, and financial aid refunds and coordinating eligibility and processing with Financial Aid, Accounts Payable, and Finance. Prepares summary reports and supporting documentation for accounting reconciliation purposes.
  • Supervises staff, including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling and disciplining. Implements and enforces policies and procedures, departmental guidelines, and internal controls for area of responsibility; and interprets same for staff as needed.
  • Oversees enrollment cancellation and the nightly student billing processes and initiates and runs additional processes as needed; coordinates with and assists IT to resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Audits and reviews the daily reconciliations for all cashiers, including regional campuses.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as answering phones, typing correspondence, filing, copying, faxing, emailing, preparing copy center requisitions and direct pay requests.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The successful applicant must have knowledge of basic accounting methods and practices, of record keeping and billing procedures/methods; knowledge of PeopleSoft software, computerized files and appropriate computer applications. This individual requires excellent problem resolution, technical, organizational, interpersonal, communication and project management skills. They must have the ability to coordinate with other offices/departments, to provide good customer relations, to problem solve, to plan and implement effective management structure. Must be proficient in ability to articulate and document on matters including billings, receivables, reconciliations, and matters related to area of responsibility.
