Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
In this role you will spend the majority of your time assisting the Branch Manager in all functions as set forth below. There will be times you may be required to work in the field in a technician capacity to help get work completed. This will include regular lake and pond maintenance as well as Special Service Agreement work that will need to be completed. Act as a Field Supervisor directing branch technicians in addition to assisting the Branch Manager with scheduling, safety, sales, budgeting, compliance, safety and customer service.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
OPERATIONS
Initiate methods of improving efficiency and coordinate with branch manager
Check progress of work performed to ensure quality
Resolve problems
Provide technical information and assistance
Provide final inspection of work
Ensure completion of required paperwork for technical personnel
Ensure completion of customer service follow-up calls and respond
Mediate customer questions and complaints
Supervise technical aspect of work
Create and enforce technician schedules
Ensure 100% contract compliance
Obtain necessary permits and licenses
Maintain proper purchase order reporting and storing information
Produce and monitor monthly technician schedules
Ensure completion of Special Service Agreement and turn in to be billed.
Ensure all technicians arrive each morning and they have all supplies needed to complete their daily schedule.
Ensure all technicians return to the shop each afternoon and that all of their equipment is cleaned each day.
Assist with production when necessary to meet completion deadlines both recurring and non recurring.
Safety
Report all accidents and injuries immediately to Branch Manager.
Conduct investigation and proper reporting concerning all incidents.
Complete weekly safety meetings and monthly toolbox talks.
Ensure all employees wear proper PPE at all times.
Ensure all vehicles have the proper safety equipment (spill kits, vests, hard hats, etc.).
Ensure all vehicles have necessary safety paperwork (MSDS sheets, 609 forms, DVIR etc.).
Inventory Control
Maintain inventory controls
Complete inventory reporting
Verify monthly chemical usage and receipts
Review, compare, and respond to PTR Chemical Usage Report in relation to actual
Investigate chemical discrepancies
Financials
Ensure proper utilization of resources and proper expense management for the Branch.
Review with Branch Manager Project reforecast monthly.
Review job P & L’s monthly and discuss any below 40% with technicians.
Monitor all contracts to ensure proper expense management and maximize OP.
Submit all SSA billing when completed to Admin.
Perform quarterly budget reviews with Branch Manager.
Customer Service
Meet with key accounts monthly.
Meet with customers who call in with concerns.
Provide proposals to customers that call office for service issues.
Analyze current and future problems and needs.
Maintain and improve our relationship with customers.
Work to retain customers.
Handle customer problems / complaints that can’t be handled by Asst BM or Admin.
Monitor Quality Control
Equipment
Work with garage manager to make sure all trucks and equipment is in proper working order & set up to meet contract specifications.
Make sure we have all signs, cones, arrow boards etc to meet contract and state traffic control guidelines.
Ensure trucks are equipped with all needed tools and equipment (water pumps, mixing buckets, spray heads, nozzles, etc.).
Documentation / Record Keeping
Approve daily property treatment reports / time sheets.
Personnel Management
Oversee technicians and shadow Drivers in Your Branch.
Assist with Recruiting/Interviewing/Hiring/Training for all branch staff as needed.
Help Branch Manager complete annual Performance Evaluations and make pay recommendations.
Conduct progressive discipline when necessary.
Summarize All Personnel Activities and Report to Branch Manager
SALES/SERVICE
Help Technicians identify lead opportunities for Sales Manager.
Identify proposal opportunities while conduction quality control inspections.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
As a minimum, this position requires at least five years of upper level management experience in the vegetation or greens industry.
Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Greens Industry or related field preferred.
Previous supervisory, budgeting, and operational, facility and subordinate development experience preferred.
Must possess good interpersonal skills, be a team player and have good communication skills.
Experience in terrestrial and aquatic vegetation management a plus.
Must obtain either Right-Of-Way or Aquatic license within 120 days of hire.
2-4 years of experience in the operation of boats/vessels and all-terrain vehicles with knowledge of spray equipment procedures and practices
