Basic Job Description:
As a Polish/Inspection Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the polisher to clean residual powder off the exterior of filled capsules. In addition, you will be responsible for inspecting finished capsules and tablets for defects manually or through the semi-automatic inspection machine. You will also be responsible for cleaning the equipment, utensils, and rooms in which you operate.

Basic Job Description:
As a Polish/Inspection Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating the polisher to clean residual powder off the exterior of filled capsules. In addition, you will be responsible for inspecting finished capsules and tablets for defects manually or through the semi-automatic inspection machine. You will also be responsible for cleaning the equipment, utensils, and rooms in which you operate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs), follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), and must be able to interpret, follow and complete scheduled production on-time
- Must have ability to read, follow detailed Batch Production Record instructions and fill out documents that include the following tasks:
- Set up and operate equipment i.e. change out brushes on the polisher or rollers on the semi-automatic inspection machine
- Collect and weigh capsule/tablet yields into containers using platform bench scales
- Calculate total theoretical capsule/tablet yield and actual yield
- Load containers on pallets to designated areas for transit; from polish to inspection or inspection to packaging facility
- Once the yield is calculated for the Inspection Report, submit BPR to supervisor/quality control for final review
- Ensure proper operation of equipment and promptly reports any concerns to management
- Clean and sanitize equipment and utensils; disassembling and reassembling as needed
- Sweep/wash floors and work areas to maintain equipment and work area in sanitary condition
- Work with QA Personnel to perform quality checks on a daily basis
- Develop strong lines of communication with other co-workers to ensure plant-efficiency
- Must wear appropriate gear: hairnets, gloves, hearing protection, dust masks, etc.
Yearly Refresher Training on following topics:
- Food Safety (HACCP/HARPC overview)
- Food Defense
- Personal Hygiene and GMP’s
- Sanitary and Safe Food Handling Techniques
- Allergens
- Updates or Revisions made to SOPs since last training
- Must be able to do overtime when requested from time to time
- Performs other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by supervisors
- Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, grab, push, pull hold and carry
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion work
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Standing and walking 8+ hours a day
- Must be able to handle varying temperatures per department
