PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To troubleshoot systems and perform preventive and predictive maintenance on various equipment, while always keeping safety as a priority. Will also provide support for production and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given to them by the assembly department maintenance supervisors and team leaders.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
Responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK’s plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee’s Charter.
Also, maintain, troubleshoot, and provide continuous improvement suggestions resulting in minimal downtime of manufacturing equipment in the assembly area. Support installation and modification of equipment to ensure quality control requirements are met and process enhancements are realized.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
Follow and comply with all plant safety standards including LOTO
Troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of various manufacturing equipment, including robots, PLC, controls, electrical, etc.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes
Effective communication with team members and other departments
Maintain integrity of safety devices including light curtains, safety gates, barriers, etc.
Assist in design and installation of new/improved manufacturing equipment, components, and processes
Make modifications to existing equipment as required
Assist in determining spare parts requirements
Maintain accurate documentation
Train operators and new team members on fixtures, control panels, etc.
Assist team members with running lines/presses
Monitor and maintain good housekeeping using 5S
Provide support for machine improvements
Ensure equipment meets NEC, OSHA, RIA, and Magna regulations
Perform PM inspections as required, complete with all repairs
Disassemble defective equipment as well as replaces defective parts, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, etc.
May specialize in repairing specific manufacturing equipment, and equipment that is not specific to the manufacturing process.
Use computerized or manual maintenance information systems to document the details of equipment related issues, repairs made, preventative and predictive maintenance measures taken, etc.
Use computerize or manual systems to facilitate root cause analysis for failures resulting in major downtime (as defined by management). Once the root cause has been identified, put measurements in place that will prevent reoccurrence within the affected business unit, as well as across the facility.
Interface will all necessary production associates, production supervision, etc., to ensure issues are identified and resolved. In general, communicate with the production team.
Minimize downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts and external contacts
Promotes good housekeeping (5S)
Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

SKILL (Ability to do the job)

  • Must have good mathematical and communication
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Ability to use testing and troubleshooting equipment
  • Must have a good understanding of rigging, cranes, etc.
  • Must have a general knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Must be able to pay good attention to detail
  • Must have a basic knowledge of drafting (blueprint reading, dimension drawings, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of AUTOCAD
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet customer requirements
  • Must have basic knowledge or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have general knowledge on electrical theory and troubleshooting
  • Must have general mechanical knowledge
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands for the position include being able to lift a weight of 40 pounds; frequent bending, stooping and stretching; being able to stand for prolonged periods of time; and ability to walk for prolonged periods of time.

Some of the equipment and tools used are a multi-meter, basic hand tools, Oscilloscope,
laptop/PC, AMP probe, Mega ohm meter, MIG Welder

KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year degree from a technical college or minimum of three years on-the-job training with heavy industrial manufacturing facility in skilled trade capacity.

TECHNICAL TRAINING: Journeyman Certification preferred. General knowledge of industrial maintenance with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, robotics, or controls application

OTHER: Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

WORK EXPERIENCE
