Secluded on nearly 10 acres on Waller Creek, the Commodore Perry Estate comprises a 10,800-square-foot home, a chapel and gardens enclosed within a walled compound in the style of an Italian country villa and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now refreshed and refurbished as a luxury 54 room resort, the property will open in mid-2020.

Role Summary:
The Area Director of Finance reports directly to the General Managers of Commodore Perry Estate and Bishop’s Lodge as well as the Vice President of Finance Operations and is responsible for all financial aspects of the management of the hotels.

Core Responsibilities:
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
  • Conducts monthly financial reviews with each property
  • Key Participant in monthly and yearly reviews with owner/asset manager to include budget and forecasting in addition to monthly financial reporting.
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by managing weekly cash flow forecasting and working with the owner on working capital needs.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Oversee the day to day accounting functions of a shared service team which includes AR, AP, Payroll, and General Accounting
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Strict adherence to financial and operational internal control systems
  • Manage external banking relationships on behalf of each property
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Hospitality or equivalent experience in a hotel environment.
  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible experience as a Director of Finance in upscale, market-leading hotels.
  • Proven expertise in financial accounting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, team management, and development.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive. Preferred.
  • Experience with a corporate office reporting structure. Preferred.
  • Previous work experience in luxury properties. Preferred.

Travel Requirements :

Travel to Bishop’s Lodge will be required on an agreed schedule. (Minimum quarterly)
