DescriptionWunderlich-Malec Engineering is a 100% employee-owned ESOP and one of the largest and most well-established (35+ years) Architecture and Engineering companies in the United States - we have an Architectural Drafter position available in our St. Paul, MN office. This person will prepare architectural design drawings for new construction, conceptual, existing facilities expansion, and renovation projects from self-generated designs. Delivers drawings through all phases of the project. This position will assist the Project Manager in achieving the overall objectives of projects with design and detailing.
Major Responsibilities
- Experience with current version of AutoCAD and Revit architectural drafting software.
- Preparation of architectural conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents.
- Experience in architectural floor plans, wall sections, building elevations, and associated schedules and details.
- Must exhibit a high level of skills as required to balance numerous and simultaneous projects with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings.
- General administration such as proper documentation, copying, printing, and fluent with drafting applications and general computer knowledge.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager / Business Unit Manager as deemed appropriate.
- Communication with internal staff, clients, and other consultants/disciplines.
Key Competencies
- Knowledge of construction documents and details. Knowledge of specifications preferred, but not required.
- Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings.
- Ability to perform AutoCAD and Revit design functions.
- Planning, Customer Focus, Timely Decision Making, Informing, Organizing, Priority Setting, Problem Solving.

Minimum Requirements
Education
Two-year degree in Computer-Aided Design or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
- 7+ years relevant work experience in an Architecture environment.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Demonstrated skill in working effectively with a team of architects, engineers, and A/E support.
- Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications.
- Working knowledge of computer equipment for proper setup and operation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Can work independently with little input and direction from the Business Unit Manager.
- All employees are required to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a hybrid remote/home office and office work environment. A high-speed internet connection at home is required.
- May be subject to local travel assignments constituting up to 10% of the work schedule. Travel varies as a function of the project.
- No or very limited physical effort is required.
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as outside temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or noises.
