Apprentice Groundman (Franklin)

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation is seeking hard-working individuals to join our team as Apprentice Groundman for our Franklin Office. The successful candidate must be a high school graduate or equivalent and be 18 years of age. Must obtain a valid Tennessee Class "A", Restriction 57 commercial driver's license and successfully complete and pass Climbing School and TVPPA Lineman Apprentice Correspondence Course Unit 1 on Basic Mathematics and Electricity within 6 months from date of employment. Must complete a six (6) month employee training probationary period ("Training Period"). Individuals qualified after the Training Period may work out of classification, as specified in the Labor Agreement. No specialized experience is required, however, any experience wherein working with other individuals in a team effort is highly desirable. Must possess a positive attitude and sincere desire to be of service in all areas covered by the position. Must be physically fit to perform such duties as learning job safety, digging pole and anchor holes, assist in setting poles and anchors, assist in tamping poles and anchors, proper care of tools, trucks, and work equipment, moving materials, helping unload poles and loading onto pole trailers, using axe and other tree-cutting and clearing equipment, using chemical spray equipment for right-of-way care, learning how to use all required hand tools on the ground in connection with line construction, and running general errands.
