Job Description
Description: Fast paced high-risk OB office located on the campus of UT Medical Center is currently looking for a full-time Appointment Scheduler.
RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Scheduling of new and established patient appointments for multiple locations
- Knowledge of specific insurance requirements
- Complete information in the computer including patient demographics and detailed insurance data
- Completing tasks timely, completely and correctly
- Documents appropriate information in scheduling program
- This position requires the employee to make every effort to remain a flexible, cooperative and supportive member of the staff; act as a liaison between other departments within the office; and maintain friendly open lines of communication
- Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned
- Present a friendly and positive attitude when answering phones
- Forwarding of calls to appropriate team members/departments
DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Keeps all patient information, practice information and staff information confidential
- Performs routine work under general supervision
- Follows established procedures, referring all new or unusual questions/concerns
- Acts as patient advocate, ensuring a setting that protects the rights of the patient, in compliance with HIPAA, and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patient’s physical or mental well-being, safety or dignity
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, established policies and procedures

. Requirements:
- Previous medical office experience including appointment scheduling and operation of multi-line telephone system
- Good reading comprehension and ability to clearly communicate with patients and other facilities
- Able to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians and fellow staff
