Job Description
Since 1964, UCC has been the designated Community Action Agency (CAA) for the City of Newark. CAAs are local non-profit organizations, supported by federal Community Services Block Grant funding that carries out the Community Action Program, which was founded by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty by empowering the poor as part of the War on Poverty. Over 5,000 people have benefited from our numerous programs that include affordable housing, shelter for the homeless, pantries for the hungry, and activities for the elderly, young adults and children.
Member Duties : We are embarking on a Community Needs Assessment (CNA) to ask group and community members what they see as the most important needs of their community. VISTA members will rotate within the agency's main departments: affordable housing; food pantry and clothing closet; emergency shelter and case management; youth, family and senior services. Analyst Position VISTA: will use your mathematical, analytical and statistical skills to assist with development and analysis of CNA data and summarizing findings into a document to share with staff and community stakeholders.
