PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs activities relating to analysis, evaluation, building, programming, testing, correcting, implementing, operating or supporting existing and planned IT products and processes under the general direction of more experienced personnel. Expands and applies knowledge of customer process to job activities. Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
In this position the Analyst IT serves as a subject matter expert in supporting North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements and deliverables. The core responsibilities focus on Systems Security Management practices. The Analyst IT primary focus will be on Security Patch Management supporting the technical support areas in successfully meeting compliance requirements. This role is part of a greater Systems Security Management team which also includes Ports and Services, Malicious Code Prevention, Security Event Monitoring, and Systems Access Control. This role currently reports directly to IT Compliance Operations Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- As directed, perform and document work activities related to analysis, evaluation, building, testing, or implementing planned IT software solutions and processes and/or enhance, maintain or support existing products/processes as per defined services level agreements.
- Acquire and apply business/IT knowledge.
- Organize own activities for short term or sub-project/components under the direction of experienced personnel and reports on status.
- Gain product experience and technical skills through assigned role and training.
- Ensure adherence to standards as outlined in the management model. Utilize best practices to improve products and services.
POSITION SCOPE
- Performs this service in support of Work and Asset Management
- Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Typically 0-2 years experience in related experience in an area such as cybersecurity, compliance, computer science, hardware or software support.
- Appropriate technical skills associated with the experience provided.
- Ability to understand and communicate customer issues.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred
- Familiarity with the NERC CIP Standards
- Experience with performing patching on systems or applications
