Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Presiding Workers’ Compensation Judge, the Workers’ Compensation Judge is assigned to hear and decide judicial matters arising under the Labor Code and California Code of Regulations relating to workers’ compensation and related laws and does other related work within the Division of Workers' Compensation. https://www.calcareers.ca.gov/CalHrPublic/Exams/Bulletin.aspx?examCD=9PB08 Working Conditions The incumbent works in an air conditioned office building with natural and artificial lighting as well temperature control. In addition, the incumbent works in a cubicle in close proximity to others. The position is required to work extensively on computers as necessary for drafting documents, conducting research, drafting email communication, and other purposes. The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims, and provides administrative and judicial services to assist in resolving disputes that arise in connection with claims for workers' compensation benefits.
DWC's mission is to minimize the adverse impact of work-related injuries on California employees and employers.
