NOTE: This position is on-campus only due to the site-specific responsibilities and not eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement. Monitor and provide safety instructions and procedures to all who use the equipment and machinery within the Woodshop. Guide faculty/students with assigned class projects. Conduct lab demonstrations for courses. Maintain a clean lab and workspace on a daily basis. Occasional heavy lifting of lumber (100 lbs.+). Promote and facilitate the use of professional standards and practices while training and mentoring students. Other duties as assigned by Woodshop Manager. Bachelor’s degree in art or related field. Three years of experience in woodworking. Experience working with and managing students. Practical knowledge and demonstrated skill in the use of standard woodworking tools and machinery. Demonstrates knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques and delivers notable "above and beyond" customer service to meet or exceed client needs and expectations. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences (e.g., faculty, students and staff). Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. All qualifications above plus MFA in related field. Five years experience in woodworking. Experience working in higher education. Experience managing studio labs. $36,000 ($28,800 for 32 hour work week) Repetitive use of hands Standing for extended periods Exposure to standard office conditions, including use of computer keyboard. Exposure to saw dust and loud machinery Monday through Thursday, 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Occasional night and weekend hours as needed. Will be discussed by supervisor.
