General Description and Classification Standards Manages internal communications platforms, products, and materials. Establishes internal strategies to communicate the Department of Watersheds strategic plans, priorities, goals, and key initiatives to DWM employees. Institutes mechanisms to amplify and convey information to staff. The internal communications manager is the eyes, ears, and voice of the organization. Supervision Received This position may require you to work independently and only report to the Director when necessary approvals or other direction is required. Direction received is general and focuses more on long-term and short-term operating objectives, managerial effectiveness, and operating results. This level would be considered "middle" management. Writing skills: Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees. Must possess the confidence to deal with senior staff and explain communication techniques to them. Creative skills: A unique creative ability to devise communication strategies and familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential. Licensures and Certifications Professional Licensed Engineer Certifications or similar certifications preferred.
