AEM is an engineering and technology company with offices in the Washington DC area., providing technical support to clients with water and wastewater infrastructure. Our focus of support is generally with municipal and smaller enterprise systems requiring expertise in operations, maintenance, and system resiliencies. The enterprise water systems, although relatively small by commercial standards, are a complex collection of pumps, filters, chemical treatment, and storage components which are critical to the potable and process water needs of our client(s), which have critical infrastructure and supporting systems worldwide. More complex maintenance challenges are often addressed and can be equally critical to facility operations and the need to maintain acceptable environmental standards with effluent discharge and or gray water use where applicable.

The overall requirement of this position will be to provide training support, both remote and on-site, for a variety of water and wastewater facilities located throughout the world. There will be a need to assist with several regional training programs for the Facility Managers and their maintenance staff each year. The position will also require travel to facilities to perform condition assessments and field repairs. Writing and evaluation of Scopes of Work for larger projects and improvements is also included. Technical expertise of enterprise level water and wastewater systems and equipment will be needed to assist with these programs.

Basic qualifications/experience (the required qualifications which are critical to be considered for the position:

· Academic training in water and wastewater systems with exposure to water supply and distribution, water and wastewater management, water resource engineering and interest in supporting municipal and private water and wastewater utility organizations. One year of experience is preferred but not required.

· Required to have 10+ years’ experience managing and operating small enterprise, Community Water and Wastewater Systems. Familiarity with the operation and performance of package filtration, softening, and disinfection drinking water systems, and with package activated sludge wastewater plants (e.g. Legacy, Jet Corp.) is a plus.

· The successful candidate must be familiar with current WHO and USEPA Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Standards and be able to design and coordinate field water quality testing.

· Background in start-up, operation and maintenance of enterprise wastewater treatment plants conforming to US EPA discharge limits.

· Background in overseeing operations and maintenance of small water and wastewater plants and ability to evaluate operations, equipment operations and participate in the implementation of system improvement projects.

· Desire and ability to travel internationally to any location worldwide. Post-COVID travel will be up to 50%.

· U.S. citizenship with current security clearance at the secret level or ability to obtain clearance.

Desired skills/certifications (any additional skills desired but not required to be considered for the position):

· Certified operator and/or Circuit Rider certification is desirable.

· Strong communication skills.

· Strong writing skills, ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with staff, outside agencies, contractors, developers, and general public.

· Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.

· Capacity to independently formulate and manage complex worldwide water resources programs with general guidance.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project).
