Department: Star City Wastewater Treatment Plant, Cheat Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant and Lift Stations
Job Title: Plant Maintenance (HOURLY - NON-EXEMPT)
Job Description: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the operations of the WWTP in a manner consistent with MUB goals/guidance, and in full compliance with the law; ensure continuous operations and maintenance of all plant equipment.
- Maintain WWTP and Lift Station equipment, buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly manner.
- Perform routine maintenance of WWTP equipment, including, but not limited to: Pump packing adjustment; adjusting, greasing and lubricating equipment; tank cleaning; changing oil in equipment; ground care; and building maintenance.
- Assist in repair of WWTP equipment.
- Learn to perform and assist on instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Promote, ensure and maintain a safe and orderly workplace.
- Maintain log sheets, books and other operational records.
- Perform assigned/routine chemical and physical tests and accurately record results
- Inspect motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes and other WWTP plant equipment and report on condition.
- Perform computer-based daily and monthly record keeping.
- Monitor and respond to computer-based operational controls and alerts.
- Acquire, maintain and improve upon knowledge of plant functions, operations and maintenance, wastewater treatment and water chemistry.
- Work primarily first shift, occasional overtime may be required.
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Head of Maintenance, Chief Operator or Department Head.
Job Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle (CDL preferred).
- Hold a high school diploma (or equivalent).
- Be willing and able to learn a working knowledge of the wastewater treatment process and chemistry, maintenance of plant equipment and related rules and regulations.
- Be available to work all shifts and weekends, as required.
- Be able to work unsupervised, set and achieve goals, and work well with and support others.
- Have problem solving skills and be able to manage multiple tasks.
- Have mechanical skills and an understanding of the operations and maintenance of industrial equipment.
- Have or be willing and able to learn basic math and computer skills.
- Have written and oral communications skills.
- Be committed to workplace safety.
- Be honest, reliable and committed to strict compliance with the law and protection of the environment and public health.
- Be supportive of the company mission.
- Be able to be on-call on a weekly basis.
