Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Team ensures accurate inventory management process are in place and product shipment issues are resolved. The Operations Team works together with other store associates to get merchandise checked-in and onto the sales floor, to provide our customers with our best product selection. They work as a team with hard goods and soft goods supervisors to prioritize goods flow, resolve product shipment issues, execute bulletins, set merchandise standards, and return unsellable merchandise to our vendors.

Overall Function of this Position:

  • Unloads incoming merchandise and ensures the accuracy of received shipment.
  • Check-in, unpack, and prepare merchandise to be taken out to the sales floor.
  • Work with operations team in each department to replenish stock on the sales floor in the appropriate locations set to merchandise standards.
  • Execute prices changes and daily merchandising bulletins.
  • Receive store supplies, process damages, RTV’s, and ensure all inventory management practices are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Team Associate is responsible for the accurately receiving and shipping of all store merchandise and supplies as well have the product merchandised and priced correctly on the sales floor. They are responsible for:
  • Ensuring every customer observed within 10 feet is greeted within 30 seconds.
  • Facilitating the flow of received merchandise shipments to the sales floor and set to merchandise standards.
  • Moving and staging received merchandise to the sales floor with minimal impact on customer shopping.
  • Re-stocking the sales floor.
  • Processing claims for goods damaged during shipment.
  • Resolving receiving discrepancies due to incorrect items, quantities, or packaging.
  • Receiving special orders and completing the supporting paperwork.
  • Shipping and receiving store-to-store transfers of merchandise.
  • Processing and shipping of eCommerce orders.
  • Maintaining all receiving files as they pertain to the receiving processing function.
  • Returning defective or unsellable merchandise back to vendors.
  • Following all receiving procedures to maintain inventory accountability and reduce inventory shrinkage.
  • Ensuring that a safe and orderly work environment is maintained.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Communication: Good listening and interpersonal skills. Candidates must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must communicate well with other associates, read receiving documents, and record discrepancies.
  • Analytical: Candidates must have good math and process skills. They must be able to follow detailed procedures, differentiate between similar items and problem-solve receiving issues until resolved.
  • Computer: Candidates must possess basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Organization: Candidates must be able to file receiving documents, prioritize work, process various forms, and move boxes efficiently through the work area.
  • Education: The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a G.E.D. or high school diploma.
  • Experience: One to Two (1-2) years in retail materials handling or similar experience preferred.
    • Working conditions and physical demands:
      • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb up and down a ladder, move throughout the store, and lift a 30 lb. box overhead.
    • Candidate must be able to work a flexible work week, and work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.
