Warehouse Lead

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, oversee the supply chain process in the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of tools, maintain receiving and inventory control records and prepare related reports; manage and supervise employees and their performance, and ensure that safety regulations are met. Serve as a lead over one or more assigned warehouse functions; train and provide lead work direction and guidance to assigned staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES include the following.
- Oversee and participate in the shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing of raw materials.
- Oversee and participate in the receiving, unloading and inspection of shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips; contact vendors regarding damaged goods, or other discrepancies; complete receiving, discrepancy, and follow-up reports.
- Oversee and participate in the stocking of materials at all warehouse's areas; plan storage locations; determine proper location to allow for maximum space utilization.
- Serve as a lead over an assigned warehouse function; train and provide lead work direction and guidance to assigned staff; prioritize work assignments; participate in the hiring and screening of new applicants as assigned.
- Fills prioritize and process requisitions; pull, pack and ship item or supplies to locations according to established procedures.
- Answer telephones, greet and assist visitors; provide information and resolve issues concerning requisitions, stock on hand, back orders and shipment discrepancies, damage, or storage.
- Monitor stock levels; complete inventory control tasks on the company electronic system; input date and quantity; forward to appropriate personnel.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit a variety of records and reports related to the warehouse operations.
- Oversee preparation of inventory records as assigned, maintaining associated records.
- Oversee and participate in the performance of periodic and annual physical inventories; conduct physical inventories.
- Operate a variety of warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and postage meters. Operate a computer and assigned software to input data and generate reports.
- Maintain the warehouse in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition; maintain correct conditions for service storage areas.
- Make recommendations regarding proper storage, inventory and warehousing procedures and improvements in warehouse efficiency.
- Assist the Supply Chain Manager in monitoring inventory levels and determine purchase needs.
- Work in process materials that need to go in and out of the facility for complementary external work such subcontracting duties and finish goods.
- Contact vendors regarding shortages.
- Maintain backorder records.
- Meet with vendors and company representatives, as necessary.
- Reorder items in accordance with established guidelines.
- Prepare paperwork for return for credits and verify receipt of returned for credits merchandise.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Oberg safety and security procedures.
- Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.
- Other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Dexterity for hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and a variety of warehouse equipment. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone. Seeing to read a variety of materials. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects. Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally. Bending at the waist, kneeling, and crouching. Heavy physical labor. Climbing ladders to reach supplies and equipment. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly have to travel through the manufacturing departments. The atmosphere is a warehouse setting, working around and with machinery having moving parts. Working at heights. Fumes from vehicle and equipment operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
- Must be able to operate warehouse equipment such as, forklifts, hand trucks and pallet jacks.
- Must possess or obtain valid fork truck driver’s license.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must be able to follow instructions and work orders.
- Must be able to understand written correspondence.
- Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years related warehousing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Previous training in logistics, supply chain management or similar subject preferred.
- Previous experience supervising staff preferred.
