The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for the Human Resources function. The position reports to the General Manager. The VP of HR will partner with the General Manager and other senior leaders to ensure qualified team members are hired, trained, engaged and operationally effective.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Lead organization with methods and actions that are ethical and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies.
  • Identify compliance risks and take actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks.
  • Champion, within the organization, a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible corporate behavior.
  • Create a compliance culture within the organization and foster an environment where employees feel comfortable reporting potential violations or misconduct.
  • Provides executive leadership to Human Resources Operations (Recruiting & Employment, Training/Development, Engagement, Benefits/Wellness Internal Communications) and Employee & Labor Relations,
  • Leads development and execution of the property’s workforce development plan in partnership with Operations leaders.
  • Engages the community with a robust and comprehensive engagement plan.
  • Responsible for researching, establishing, recommending changes and administering employment policies relating to: sourcing, hiring, training and development of team members, compensation and other employee services.
  • Responsible for ensuring strong internal communications strategy and execution including communicating new policies and procedures to all leaders
  • Ensures equal employment opportunities and fair application of all policies and procedures.
  • Monitors measurement of Human Resources initiatives and ensures trends are identified and addressed including but not limited to time to fill openings, turnover, retention, employee opinion and supervisory feedback scores, performance management, ACA-related measurements and Wellness metrics.
  • Maintains culture where performance expectations, recognition and accountability mechanisms are communicated and utilized.
  • Acts as a role model and coaches while developing employees using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulating expectations.
  • Coaches and develops supervisor/manager skills in performance management, fair treatment, assists in diagnosing and designing solutions to improve service quality.
  • Ensures compliance with all laws and record keeping rules.
  • Strives to improve and streamline departmental operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes and program effectiveness/value.
  • Responsible for the budgetary control of all departments within the Human Resources function.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years in Human Resources management experience required with a concentration in at least two of the following: Labor, Recruiting/Employment, Training/Development, Compensation and/or Benefits Administration.
  • Experience with large scale hiring a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (4 hours).
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.
  • Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
