The Daggett Fire Department is currently accepting applications for Volunteer Fire Apparatus Engineer.
Daggett Fire Department is full service, all risk fire department serving the community of Daggett and providing statewide mutual aid as needed.
Job Description:
The duties listed below are intended only as general illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
- Responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls by driving assigned. Automotive equipment or fire apparatus to the required location.
- Drives, operates and maintains various types of firefighting and suppression apparatus and equipment, including but not limited to pumping and ladder equipment and ground monitors.
- Performs routine and minor repairs and inspects fire apparatus and equipment.
- Performs in a lead capacity in the implementation of public education programs, fire prevention and code enforcement programs, field inspections, fire inspections, apparatus maintenance and other support services programs. * Trains personnel in the operation and maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment.
- Reports on equipment maintenance and work operations using a personal computer, or other types of office equipment.
- Maintains skills and knowledge in public safety and firefighting field through study of various fire related procedure manuals, applicable fire codes, and applicable courses.
- Inspects safety violations to determine compliance with the California Fire Code (CFC) during building inspections.
- Performs as company officer in the absence of a Captain
Job Qualifications/Education:
- EMT-B preferred
- California Drivers License
- High School Diploma/ GED equivalency
- Firefighter Driver license endorsement
- Completion of Operator 1A
- Completion of Operator 1B Preferred
- Completion of firefighter academy
Skills and Ability to:
- Effectively and safely drive and operate the full range of fire apparatus and equipment used by the Department; perform field calculations of hydraulics for the proper and effective operations of equipment at emergency scenes; demonstrate physical endurance, agility, strength, and stamina in the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions; think and act quickly with good judgment in emergencies; work a variety of shifts including week-ends, holidays, and emergency call-back; understand and follow oral directions promptly and accurately; work independently; establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Applicants must have a California Driver's license, be physically fit, pass a background check, and be able to volunteer a minimum of three 24 hour shifts per month.

Before shift, a pre-screening questioner has to be completed before shift start. When you arrive at the station, a temperature check is done before entering the work place.
