Each of our TAs/VAs/CVTs works together as a team with a DVM. As a technician, you will see a lot of interesting and challenging cases. Your knowledge base, skill set, and abilities will grow. We are currently looking for compassionate, dependable, and motivated CVT's who like to collaborate with others to provide the best care for pets and great service to the pet's family. Full and part-time positions are available. Training and orientation to equipment and protocols will be provided on-site. Prior animal-related experience is preferred. *General Skills and Personal Attributes Requirements for TA/VA/CVT: * * Compassion for companion animals and empathy for their owners * A positive attitude, resilience, and flexibility when unexpected things happen * Willingness to pitch in and share the workload with the team * Exemplify professional behaviors of respect for colleagues, strong work ethic, clinical appearance/attire, and direct positive communication * Execute task directives and complete designated tasks on-time * Ability to see what needs to be done and willingness to take initiative to do it * Receptive to performance feedback * Ability to work independently and as a team (DVM, CVT, vet asst, tech asst) * Multi-tasking skills TA Duties include but are not limited to: Administer prescribed oral medications including pain meds Help Certified Veterinary Technicians induce and monitor gas anesthesia and injectable anesthetics including local blocks during surgery Help techs place indwelling catheters Assist CVT's with bandaging wounds, and for post-surgical patients Help CVT's provide surgical and anesthetic assistance/support and monitoring Perform dental assessments/charting and cleaning Help with the positioning of patients and taking radiographs Apply therapeutic laser treatments Communicate clearly between front-desk (admissions & discharges) and your team members to support a smooth flow of patient/pet family care Provide patient care for in-hospital and boarding animals on medications Provide and maintain clear lines of communication between team members (DVM, CVT, Vet Asst, Tech Asst) Provide animal restraint Clean surgical instruments Prepare surgical packs (instruments, gowns) for sterilization Perform nail trims and anal gland expression Assist with cleaning to maintain aseptic practice standards *VA Duties include but are not limited to: * * Obtain patient history and take vital signs * Provide animal restraint * Communicate clearly between front-desk (admissions & discharges) and your team members to support a smooth flow of patient/client care * Apply therapeutic laser treatments * Position and expose radiographs * Serve as a medical scribe to assist DVM during a physical exam * Provide patient care for in-hospital and boarded animals that require medications * Assist in training new vet & tech assistants (once settled into the VA role) * Provide and maintain clear lines of communication between team members (DVM, CVT, vet asst, tech asst) * Perform nail trims and anal gland expression * Maintain aseptic practice standards Description of the CVT's role: If you have completed an accredited Vet Tech program and you have not yet become certified, we encourage you to apply for a tech position and we will support your efforts to obtain certification. Training and orientation will be provided on-site. Skills and requirements: Take initiative to get things started and to move procedures along Clinical experience in pre-op, intra-op, and post-op surgical patient care Clinical experience in medical/surgical patient care Exemplify professional behaviors of respect for colleagues, strong work ethic, clinical appearance/attire, and direct positive communication. Serve as a role model for younger staff Serve as a mentor to less experienced staff CVT Duties include but are not limited to: Obtain patient history and take vital signs Place indwelling catheters Calculate medication dosages and administer prescribed oral, IM, and IV medications including pain meds, sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetics Calculate doses of pre-medications and induce surgical gas anesthesia Bandage wounds and post-surgical patients Take the initiative to prep and begin surgery early, and move the process along so that these are completed with enough time for complete recovery Provide surgical and anesthetic assistance/support and monitoring Assist the surgeon in soft tissue and orthopedic procedures Perform dental assessments/charting and cleaning Position and expose radiographs Apply therapeutic laser treatments Communicate clearly with the front-desk and team members to support smooth flowing patient care/client communication Serve as a medical scribe to assist DVM during a physical exam Provide patient care for in-hospital and boarded animals that require medications Train and oversee tech assistants and vet assistants Provide and maintain clear lines of communication between team members (DVM, CVT, Vet Asst, Tech Asst) Oversee in-house lab test requests and reference services and assure that these are processed correctly and on time Perform in-house laboratory tests including UA, fecal, CBC/differential, ear swab cytology, skin scraping cytology Provide animal restraint Perform nail trims and anal gland expression Maintain aseptic practice standards *Work schedule: *4-5 day work week ( 8-10 hour days) with intermittent Saturday duty *Clinic Hours: * Monday - Friday 8 am - 6 pm, rotated Saturday duty 8 am - 1 pm We are currently not open on Saturdays or evenings in order to manage staff and doctor stress and fatigue from the COVID-19 "curbside" practice model. We plan to open up in mid-July if conditions and regulations are favorable and safe. *Benefits: *We offer competitive compensation with raises commensurate with mastering new skills, health, optical, and dental insurance plans, 2 weeks paid vacation, paid sick time, CE, personal pet care, and uniform allowances, and Simple IRA (401k) retirement plan. TA Salary: $12.00 - $15.00/hour ($24,000 - $30,000/year) or more depending on experience, skill set, and assumed responsibilities. CVT Salary: $18.00 - $35.00/hour ($36,000 - $70,000/year) or more depending on experience, skill set, and assumed responsibilities.
