Job Summary

Purdue University is hiring amazing Veterinary Assistants! We’re looking to add to our Oncology team where Veterinary Assistants will be responsible for patient restraint and care, set-up and assisting during procedures (including diagnostic imaging and chemotherapy administration), assisting with sample collection, client communication, and client education. All members of the team are respected for their knowledge and experience and recognized for their contributions to educating students and helping us provide fantastic patient care. Some after-hours and on-call responsibilities may be required, this will be discussed during the interview process.

This posting may be filled at multiple levels (S2 or S3). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.


S2 requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three years of relevant work experience (1 year in a veterinary hospital setting or related experience and 2 years of customer service experience)

S3 requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Four years of relevant work experience (2 years in a veterinary hospital setting or related experience and 2 years of customer service experience)
Required:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
  • Must have confidence around domestic animals and basic knowledge of animal husbandry

Preferred:

  • NAVTA Veterinary Assistant certificate
  • Experience working in a veterinary teaching hospital or multi-specialty veterinary hospital
