JOB SUMMARY
Leads a group of 3 or more route drivers, ensuring work led complies with instructions and NEX policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads a minimum of 3 or more performing same work, ensuring sequence of operations are adhered in accordance with NEX policies and procedures. Provides input to supervisor regarding adequate staffing needs, provides input regarding work methods as well as changes in work assignments based on observation of work performed by group led. Takes necessary action to ensure economical use and protection of supplies, tools, equipment and cash.
- Responsible for passing on Vending Route instructions, and setting the pace for accomplishing the vending functions. Answers questions on procedures, ensures schedules and priorities are adhered to and keeps supervisor informed of work assignments and advises on all problems as well as areas of concern. Provides input to supervisor regarding work performance appraisals and leave requests in order to ensure staff levels are maintained to achieve work.
- Review's route inventory over/short for machines and trucks. Ensures all route and truck inventory is completed by the designated guidelines.
- Inspects route machines to ensure that route drivers are adhering to the vending policies and procedures, such as cleanliness, accurate pricing, expiration dates, calorie disclosure, etc.
- Operates a motor vehicle, to transport merchandise, supplies and materials to and from Navy Exchanges and other designated locations, using public roads and highways. Loads and unloads vehicles as required by hand or dolly; assures that cargo is properly located, distributed, and secured, and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity. Prepares and maintains Daily Trip Report of all trips made.
- Performs the same work as associates led.
- Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle (or vehicle being utilized for that day's work).
- Maintains Exchange owned machines daily. Inspects, and replenishes merchandise. Checks refrigerated machines to ensure health codes are adhered to, (i.e., expiration dates of yogurt, sandwiches, etc.) and that foods are not spoiled; removes expired foods or other merchandise from machines.
- Sets up and maintains prices in machine on items being sold; maintains a current price list.
- Assists in relocating and installing new machines at locations; cleans interiors and exteriors using appropriate cleaning solutions. Makes settings and adjustments on food dispensing, liquid dispensing and coin changer units; prepares Cash Collection Slip (SS/411).
- Inspects and tests machines to ensure they are working properly. Clears minor discrepancies such as jams.
- Collects monies from vending machines at locations according to established schedule. As required, accompanies Vending Contractors, verifying cash taken from contractor owned machines. Also, collects cash from car wash, soap and bleach and other miscellaneous items sold by machine. Counts and prepares Vending Machine Cash Collection Slip (SS/411) by date, type of machine, number of machine, name of attendant and cash meter readings.
Clears coin jams and makes refunds at designated locations.
- Performs inspection of vehicle for proper maintenance such as checking gas and oil, required oil change, tune-ups, etc. Cleans vehicle and secures in designated area at end of day. Obtains receipt for all repairs and maintains records of repairs made. Does preventive maintenance on vehicle.
- May be assigned to clean and maintain in a clean and orderly manner the area in which machines are located; sweeps, mops floors, cleans machines and empties trash cans.
- Operates under general supervision of a designated manager, who makes work schedules and assignments. Incumbent is responsible for carrying out assignments within the framework of established policies, guides and procedures. Refers unusual problems to manager for guidance and resolution.
Review is made for adherence to prescribed policies, timeliness, and efficiency of operations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Regularly lifts and transports moderately heavy objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Occasionally handles heavier items with assistance or materials handling equipment.
Frequently stands, walks and handles light weight objects.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both inside and outside. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicle. Drives in all types of weather.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess a valid state driver's license.
2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
3. Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility (e.g. Federal, DOD, Security Clearance, etc.).
4. Pass the GSA defensive driving course.
Total of 3 years experience consisting of the following:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge and skill to carry out basic retail selling and inventory duties and the ability to prepare merchandise transfer documentation.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 2 years of experience that provided the applicant with the knowledge and skill to perform various duties involving the maintenance and cleaning of vending machines money changing machines collecting cleaning and relocating machines etc. Need general experience with fixing machines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly lifts and transports moderately heavy objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Occasionally handles heavier items with assistance or material handling equipment. Regular walking bending reaching required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Must possess a valid state drivers license or a valid commercial drivers license CDL and consistent record of safe driving.
2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
3. Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility e.g. Federal DOD Security Clearance etc.
4. Pass the GSA defensive driving course.
5. Must meet Department of Transportation DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
