Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of general and vascular ultrasonography imaging techniques to assist the Radiologist in successfully diagnosing and treating the patient's condition.

  • Utilizes innovative customer service techniques to provide a positive patient care experience for the patient and their family.
  • Acts professionally in all dealings with internal and external customers to promote a working environment that focuses on the patient experience and not operational rivalries or roadblocks to care.
  • Perform all duties of a registered ultrasonographer.
  • Assess patient's condition/information and determine the appropriateness of procedures to be performed as required by the Intersociety Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories and to establish medical necessity as mandated by HCFA.
  • Evaluate patients for the presence or absence, severity and location of peripheral vascular disease by selecting the most effective procedure(s) from an array of anatomic, hemodynamic and physiologic procedures including duplex scanning, plethysmography, doppler ultrasound, pressure measurements and active or passive hyperemic challenge.
  • Record test results and report the results to the physician upon completion of testing. Document and prepare patient records for review and interpretation by physician, including the selection, recording, cross-referencing of significant or representative studies. Prepare a complete and accurate written report for subsequent review and signature of the medical director or higher designee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the organization`s needs.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Required: Formal training program after high school
    • Preferred: Associate degree (2yr program) or equivalent
  • Major
    • Required: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, Vascular Imaging, or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
  • Experience
    • Required: One to two years
    • Preferred: Two to three years
  • Skills
    • Required: Ultrasonographer skill set; Vascular Technology skill set
  • Licensure/Certifications
    • Required: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist
