Role Summary
The validation engineer is responsible for the creation of validation test and timing plans in order to meet the program team objectives for the validation of automotive components. These components consist of different technologies including analog, digital, optic, color, EMC applications for cameras and power products. This wide range of product mix requires broad based technical skills. Test plan quoting, purchase orders, pre-test meetings with outside test lab personnel, and test facilitation are key components of this position. In addition, the validation engineer may be responsible for the buildup and implementation of test stands and associated hardware and software required for the validation. The validation engineer is also responsible for creating test procedures, work instructions, and forms related to project specific and general validation group usage. Additional duties are performed as needed to ensure completion of projects and contribute to the success of the organization. Key Responsibilities
This position requires independent problem solving and decision making with general direction given on project objectives and broad guidance from corporate strategy and goals. Work is often complex, difficult in character and requires strong technical and broad business knowledge in addition to program/project management skills. The following duties may be performed at all levels within the progression.
Review and understand customer requirements.
Create Detailed Test plans, and design development plan and report (DVP&R).
Interface with customer/design team for test plan approvals and test results reviews.
Support engineering design team meetings.
Ability to provide test proposals based on modules/design changes, Electrical, Mechanical, or manufacturing processes.
Provide detailed timing plans using Microsoft project, baseline, actual dates and resources.
Interface with design team, EE for Electrical schematics, ME for Mechanical/dimensions drawing, SYS for Requirements and intended vehicle functionality/module orientations.
Review mechanical design for Vibration and Environmental test fixtures development, work closely with Mechanical engineer for approval and suggestions.
Be able to root cause failure modes detected during validation testing, troubleshooting. Experience required identifying tester or module problem by utilizing 8D formats.
Perform Data Analysis, identify data trends when parts tested under temperature, voltage and current variations by creating plots and formatted for design team notifications. Key Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Education
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of experience in an engineering automotive environment. Additional Information
