Tombras, an independent, 400+ person, national full-service advertising agency is searching for a UX Designer to assist in creating the optimal user experience for websites, mobile applications and other digital platforms for our world-class roster of clients.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative “free floating” digital design team and collaborate with Strategists, Creative Directors, Technical Directors and Developers, as well as Data Analysts, Copywriters and Digital Project Managers to ensure that the site structure and user interaction communicates and fulfills the goals of the creative brief (messaging and design) and digital brief (usability, interface functionality and technical specifications). You will also be a key member of the New Business Development team working on pitch decks for projects involving UX/UI.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead consumer insight research and usability activities to inform strategic and creative direction—including user research, user testing, persona development and customer journey mapping—to make strategic recommendations on the best solution
  • Contribute to client presentations, delivering strategic UX recommendations with confidence and conviction
  • Design best-in-class digital experiences focused on user-centered principles
  • Evaluate and identify UX improvements within existing products/platforms and provide design solutions
  • Create wireframes and prototypes, lead user testing exercises and annotate UX design recommendations
  • Provide clickable prototypes for user testing.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the digital project team throughout all stages.
  • Work within a defined process and keep all work organized according to agency standards.
  • Work closely with Analytics teams and UX research findings to understand consumer needs and behaviors.
  • Organize content and content groupings that support the research findings of the users.

What you bring:

  • 3 + years of demonstrated user experience design, interaction design or an information architect background, working on projects within an advertising agency or startup environment.
  • Portfolio demonstrating critical thinking, UI Design and understanding of UX best practices
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, specifically related to presenting to clients during pitches and client meetings
  • Proven experience guiding team members and clients through UX strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to produce UX Design work and present design solutions based on business strategy and needs
  • Experience working in ad agency and highly knowledgeable about new and emerging digital technologies and trends
  • Understand the principles of Information Architecture and online usability best practices.
  • Ability to create sitemaps and wireframes to communicate site structure and experience.
  • Sketch, storyboard and wireframe user flows to optimize key interactions for responsive desktop, mobile, tablet devices.
  • A general understanding of HTML, Javascript, Browser compatibility, CSS, XML, etc.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and web 2.0 features and functionality.
  • Strong proficiency in Information Architecture programs such as OmniGraffle, Axure, Excel, Invision, etc. to create wireframes and clickable prototypes.
  • Experience with user testing and incorporation of gathered user experience data.
  • Skilled and familiar with Adobe CS.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a passion for staying abreast of the newest digital trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and/or Human Factors, graphic, digital design or related field.
  • Advanced education from General Assembly or Portfolio school (VCU, Creative Circus, etc.) is a plus
