HARBOR LIGHT PROGRAM

TITLE: Program Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Residence Manager
TYPE: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
SCHEDULE: Saturday through Wednesday: 2 PM to 10:30 PM

OVERVIEW:
The Program Assistant assists in providing our clients with a safe environment so they can begin addressing aspects of their lives in a peaceful setting. The Program Assistant is a frontline worker responsible for maintaining the safety, integrity, and security of the Center always. The Program Assistant documents all daily activities and carries out administrative functions to support the program and its overall operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required:

o Written and Verbal command of the English language.
o First Aid and CPR certification (within the first fourteen days of employment – company provided).
o Tuberculosis clearance (within the first seven days of employment).
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Modern Office Equipment.
o Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
o Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task with follow-through.
o Culturally competent and able to work with a highly diverse population.

  • Desired:

o Experience and ability to work successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and other potential barriers to self-sufficiency.
o Bilingual preferred.
o Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed environment.

DUTIES:
1. Perform all duties in a Mission-focused and professional manner.
2. Monitor all persons entering and exiting the building.
3. Answer the main facility telephone, take messages, and/or direct callers as appropriate.
4. Distribute sorted client mail as outlined in the procedure.
5. Document, inform and report all incidents and daily activities that occur during the shift. Escalate urgent concerns to on-duty supervisors or contacting the Program Director / Executive Director by phone.
6. Stay awake and alert to maintain a safe, secure, responsive, inclusive, and non-discriminatory environment for clients.
7. Maintain appropriate, professional, and ethical boundaries always with clients.
8. Perform regular and irregular security and wellness checks throughout the facility throughout the shift.
9. Support in Medication Observation to include updating medication logs, observing clients take their medication, completing medication error forms, and assisting supervisor(s) with routine medication audits.
10. Support searches in the residence and personal property for contraband including alcohol, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and various other non-permitted items.
11. Ensure clients have dressed appropriately while moving through the facility, are not in restricted areas, and are wearing their identification badge and colored lanyard.
12. Implement rules, procedures, and protocols for clients. Be a role model of an abstinent lifestyle. Document violations for review by the Program Director and Clinical Team.
13. Assist the Clinical Team in administering urine analysis testing, temperature checks, and breath alcohol testing for clients while adhering to privacy and integrity protocols of clients and their sample(s).
14. Assist in emergency disaster responses, emergency drills, and actual emergencies at Harbor Light Center.
15. Respond to all critical incidents with notification to all stakeholders such as other departments of the Center, external Emergency Services, Maintenance Department, Program Director, and Executive Directors.
16. Respond to calls for assistance from other departments of the Center to prevent interference or disruption to operations.
17. Assist in the offboarding and onboarding of clients as directed by the Program Director.
18. Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Executive Directors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.07 - $16.57 per hour
