Salary Grade: GN04 / Salary Range: $31,200.00 - $40,450.00. This is a Transportation Worker I position and is located in the Division 2 Bridge Maintenance Unit. This position will report to and work out of the Kinston (Lenoir County) Bridge Yard. This work is related to the maintenance, repair and construction of State-owned bridges, culverts and pipes within Division 2. This position is technical in nature and labor intensive. Employees will be required to work in diverse working environments, in all weather conditions, heavy traffic, near heavy equipment with power tools and other duties as required. This position is subject to emergency call back and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances. Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Additional Expectations: Must operate a motor vehicle and have a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. Applicant will be given 60 days to obtain a Class A CDL Permit and 90 days from date of hire to receive a Class A CDL Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. Pre-employment drug testing is required for this position. As a condition of employment, a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing. Employee must be able to lift or carry up to 80 pounds. This job will require work to be performed safely while suspended at moderate heights, confined areas, over water, in water, in extreme heat and cold, and during inclement weather. Safety toe footwear is required. High school education General Educational Development Diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
