Vail Resorts’ Corporate Health and Safety (H&S) team is seeking a Transportation Compliance Senior Manager to lead, strategize and support internal transportation programs enterprise-wide, including United States and Canada. The Senior Manager will work closely with H&S leadership, resort operations and corporate leadership to promote compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and other applicable regulations across all Divisions (i.e., Corporate, Mountain, Hospitality and Retail). The Senior Manager will develop, implement and sustain corporate processes and procedures, including training team members across the organization and working with cross-functional partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and sustain corporate policies and procedures around driver qualification (DQ) files, drug and alcohol programs, vehicle inspections, hours of service (HOS), and other elements associated with transportation regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Create dashboards, regular compliance reports, and additional reports upon request that inform safety and compliance performance.
- Manage the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) process, including leveraging software to keep and monitor records.
- Analyze safety compliance metrics and review incident trends to strategically update training, processes, and allocation of resources.
- Continuously monitor changing state and federal regulations and develop policies accordingly.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including; H&S, Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and government agencies as needed.
- Assist with monitoring, maintaining, and filing records, such as annual inspections, DQ files and FMSCA biennial MCS-150 reports.
- Investigate violations and coach team members to correct identified deficiencies.
- Coordinate site compliance audits to identify all applicable non-compliance processes and equipment.
- Develop and lead implementation of standardized vehicle maintenance processes, including the vehicle recall process for the enterprise.
- Track and provide training in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Manage applicable inspection activities.
- Monitor and ensure reporting of Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) accidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Technical expertise in DOT and FMCSA compliance
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work within a team and build relationships across departments and functions
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace H&S, and positive safety and compliance culture
- Experience leading and implementing change
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to develop and implement presentations and trainings
- Ability to write policies and procedures
- Strong understanding of software systems and applications, e.g. learning management system
- Strong understanding of all Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of transportation safety and compliance management across the United States and Canada
- Bachelor’s degree in a transportation, H&S or compliance-related field
- Familiarity with the travel & leisure industry
The budgeted range starts at $73,000 - $88,950 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
