Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Transp Eng Spec III Performs advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Transp Eng Spec IV Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. May serve as lead worker.
