Transgender Services Coordinator Details

Job Summary:

The Transgender Services Coordinator will provide outreach, education and linkage services as well as support events, activities, social presence and groups for individuals of Transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming experiences. The Coordinator will expand and enhance current services in two areas:

· Workshops, support groups, and seminars for adults of Transgender experience, including the provision of activities on nights and weekends for adults of Transgender experience and events in collaboration with community partners and Trans-led organizations

· Individualized, non-clinical care-linkage services on-site and in the community for people of Transgender experience in need of culturally proficient providers

Responsibilities:

· Coordinate activities and services to increase the support, health information, education, connection and resource linkage for individuals of Transgender experience and their allies

· Collaborate with Trans-led and LGBTQ+ organizations on campus and in the community to meet the collective needs of individuals of Transgender experience

· Organize, market, and facilitate workshops and seminars for individuals of Transgender experience

· Recruit, schedule, and manage appropriate speakers, presenters, exhibitors, facilitators, educators, health care providers, panel members, and social service representatives for workshops and seminars

· Organize activities and events for Transgender Awareness Month in November, including hosting Transgender Day of Remembrance commemoration and Bishop SF Makalani-Mahee Transgender Equality Awards in collaboration with partner organizations and agencies

· Organize activities for Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31 and other days of commemoration or awareness in collaboration with partner organizations and agencies

· Serve on collaborative committees for community activities focused on individuals of Transgender experience, including Transgender Medical Conferences, Transgender Advisory Group (TAG) and Transgender Health in Action (THIA).

· As needed, provide basic non-clinical care linkage for individuals of Transgender experience to culturally competent healthcare providers, social services and groups

· Assist staff with evaluating the cultural competency and readiness of service providers to work with individuals of Transgender experience

· Collaborate with Women with Pride Coordinator to update LBT Health Directory with proficient providers for Transgender healthcare

· Organize outreach, promotion and recruitment at LGBTQ+ events, social venues, gatherings and fairs

· Coordinate strategic social media and marketing outreach for activities focused on individuals of Transgender experience

· Increase volunteer participation and empowerment for programming focused on individuals of Transgender experience

· Collaborate with Customer Service Coordinator to ensure recruitment, training, supervision, evaluation, retention and recognition of qualified volunteers necessary for activities, events and outreach

· Organize all necessary logistics for scheduling, food, audio-visual and room set-up for seminars and workshops

· Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Manager to develop appropriate outreach/ marketing materials for workshops, seminars, and other events and initiatives

· Design, distribute, and collect self-report surveys at every workshop or seminar to measure increase in knowledge and access to service linkage

· Record and track participant data and demographic information, including any pre- and post- surveys

· Collaborate with Director of Development to help organize fundraising activities to support Transgender programming at The Pride Center

· Help identify and engage new donors committed to sustaining and expanding Transgender programming

· Create centralized library/database at The Pride Center to organize and store all relevant intake forms and paperwork for access to culturally proficient providers

· Adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information, and data security

· Maintain accurate and complete participant records

· Provide outreach, education and support in conjunction with other Pride Center team members and community members

· Develop close working relationships with internal team members and external agencies to ensure coordinated, comprehensive client services and to avoid duplication

· Maintain an organized office space and professional communication standards, including prompt return of email and phone calls

· Submit reports, invoices, receipts, and requests to the COO in a timely and organized manner

· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree preferred in Social Work, Education, Healthcare or related field; or equivalent direct experience

· Proven experience in social work, provision of services and support for people of Transgender experience, event planning, outreach, education and/or health care

· Technology skills with social networking sites, social media and outreach to LGBTQ+ communities. Computer skills using Microsoft software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Organizational abilities and critical thinking skills. Logic and analytical ability.

· Ability to work hands-on with limited resources, independently or in a team setting

· Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred

· Proven ability to motivate, encourage and develop others

· Some nights and weekends required

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
