Transformer Technician- 2nd shift Details

MYERS EMERGENCY POWER SYSTEMS - Bethlehem, PA

Myers Emergency Power Systems, a leader in emergency backup power, located in Bethlehem PA, has immediate openings for a Transformer Assembler/Winder to work in our Transformer Department. Hours are 3:30 pm-12 am Monday-Friday. We offer a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, supplemental, and 401k.

Summary Wind transformers using semi-automatic winding equipment. May include electrical testing of transformers. Connect coils to terminals and builds up supporting structure of power transformers, according to applicable drawing requirements and work instructions, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required by production needs; this may include being temporarily moved to another department or area to help out or cross-train.

Wraps insulation around coil and secures with adhesive tape.

Drives fiber wedges between coil and core, using mallet to hold coil around leg of transformer core.

Crimps leads to magnet (coil) wire.

Crimps tags to lead wires to conform with wiring diagram.

Assembles support structure, clamping angles, terminals, tanks, or cabinet panels.

Brazes coil leads to specified tanks of terminal strip.

Fabricates coils and assembles component parts to build electric power, distribution, or specialty transformers according to blueprints and wiring or work instructions.

Winds copper wire around jig, fixture, or spindle to form primary coil.

Fabricates secondary coil on copper plate of specified thickness.

Varnish dip transformer.

Clean and ink stamp part numbers/date code.

HI pot test transformers and check for continuity.

Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education or high school diploma; or up to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to read 12-inch scales & tape measure; must be able to operate a pallet jack
