This position is the Training Instructor for the Environmental Management Service (EMS). Assigned to both divisions, John Cochran Division and Jefferson Barracks Division at the VA St. Louis Health Care System. Establishes and implements training, both hands on equipment and process training as well as mandatory training required by the facility. Must extensive knowledge of housekeeping practices and procedures.
Performs work in the development of EMS courses for training programs, Makes recommendations for changes which involve substantive rather than procedural matters. Creates, obtains and/or adapts current instructional material. Works within a prescribed course framework. Performs work associated with eh evaluation of course in training programs. Assists Housekeeping Officer in evaluating courses. Gathers relevant information, analyzes pertinent data, develops findings, and makes recommendations that are largely modeled on precedents. Performs duties involving the instruction of training courses or the modification of course content and/or materials. Instructs courses in a Program of Instruction. Provides instruction covering a wide variety of topics in well-established areas of a subject matter field. Uses a wide range of teaching methods or tools, depending on the students' learning requirements. Courses are usually well structured and have ample training materials. Instructional problems encountered require organization, illustration, and interpretation of course material in order to reach and motivate students who may pose typical problems of communication and motivation. Able to provide hands on training with actual work experience for students. Performs work involving modification of training courses. Recommends modifications for well-established programs. Obtains and adapts as needed, instructional materials. May participate in task analyses for determining training requirements or in special staff studies of training and testing materials. Conducts studies and performs analyses on course-related subjects and/or coordinates activities involving Programs of Instruction. Conducts studies and analyses in functional specialty or subject matter areas. Conducts studies/analyses of limited scope in a specialty area which is typically short and self-contained or constitutes portions of larger projects. Gathers information, analyzes data, develops findings and makes recommendations that are largely modeled on precedents. Conducts competency assessments annually for all housekeeping staff to ensure education provided is applicable to work sites and job requirements. Performs work related to coordinating projects for the development and implementation of training course or course materials. Maintains liaison with training program instructors and training specialists to obtain information for projects and activities. Coordinates meetings and the gathering of information for specific analyses and tests.
