The Role:
Trade Partner Diversity (TPD) Officer reports to the National Director of Trade Partner Diversity and assists with monitoring and reporting on Suffolk’s compliance with the goals and requirements related to workforce compliance; the use of minority, woman, veteran and disabled-owned businesses; prevailing wage; and other similar requirements. In addition, the TPD Officer provides guidance to project management teams on matters relating to such goals and requirements.Responsibilities:

  • Make recommendations on corrective actions to supervisors, clients and regulating agencies based on an analysis of project data for workforce and business utilization.
  • Provide support and guidance to project teams, trade partners, unions, workers and other stakeholders through a wide range of active involvement and engagement to assist such stakeholders in meeting and exceeding workforce and subcontractor compliance goals and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between Suffolk and unions to identify individuals and trade partners in order to assist Suffolk with compliance with all applicable goals and requirements.
  • Prepare reports that present Suffolk’s performance and results of compliance goals and requirements using databases such as Salesforce and LCP Tracker. Examine and interpret such reports in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate with trade partners to track whether goals and requirements are being met and assists in resolution of shortfalls and other issues.
  • Represent Suffolk at conferences, meetings and other forums in an effort to increase awareness and educate third parties and the public about Suffolk’s success in meeting and exceeding compliance goals and requirements and helps to forge quality relationships and contacts.
  • Reach out to a wide range of community-based groups in the planning and execution of special programs and events sponsored by Suffolk and other agencies. Actively participates in local community organizations that support disadvantaged groups, individuals and minority and women-owned businesses
  • Work with the Trade Partner Diversity Team on Suffolk’s Trade Partner Series to identify and mentor identified Minority-owned Business Enterprises.
  • Assist in the ongoing identification and development of a trade partner diversity database. Attends supplier diversity outreach events.
  • Assist the National Trade Partner Diversity team as needed.
  • Perform a variety of other duties as directed by the National Director of Trade Partner Diversity and Suffolk’s Legal Department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of diversity and EEO experience in the construction industry, including knowledge and experience with the Boston Residents Jobs Policy, Commonwealth of Massachusetts diversity requirements, MBE/WBE/DBE goals and requirements, prevailing wage and certified payroll.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and ability to work well with diverse individuals within and outside of Suffolk at all levels.
  • Ability to travel to different Suffolk project sites throughout Boston and Massachusetts
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Strong written and oral communication, project management, and analytical skills and close attention to detail.
  • Reliable, highly self-motivated and well organized.
  • Possesses a demonstrated commitment to diversity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, use independent judgment and display leadership techniques.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
