The Role
The Tesla Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program is a four-year academic and on the job training program that will produce the next generation of specialists in the trade. The selected apprentices will complete 8,000 hours of on the job training with a mentor while attending courses at a local community college. Courses are paid for by Tesla for selected apprentices. At the completion of the program, apprentices will receive a federally recognized journey worker certification and stackable college certifications to apply towards the next level degree.
Responsibilities
Tool & Die Apprentices will develop the necessary skills by shadowing mentors in the production area. Apprentices will perform the same tasks as mentors demonstrating progression in their abilities over a four-year period. Tasks may include manual and CNC machining on mills and lathes; operating typical manual machines including but not limited to mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, grinders, sanders, and saws; working with others to produce a wide variety of components and assemblies; performing equipment maintenance and repair; and ensuring a safe working environment and following safety requirements.
