Hours: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As Teen Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the teen programs for middle school age members at the Sonny Callahan Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama. You will plan, schedule and implement daily programs and activities in the community, programming services to Branch teens and generating positive public relations in the community. You will develop programs that will recruit and retain teen members.

KEY ROLES:
You will prepare youth for success by:
  • Creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
  • Promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Providing guidance and be a role model to members.
  • Recognizing member successes.
  • Mentoring and creating mentoring opportunities for teens to mentor younger members.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Associate’s degree or education/experience equivalency.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in youth development or a related field.
  • Experience working in a youth-serving non-profit organization is highly desirable
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • Ability to deal effectively with teen members including discipline problems.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Posses a valid driver’s license with available transportation and a driving record with no recent citations or points.
Environmental Conditions:
You will be subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
Physical Requirements (in performance of essential functions):
This position requires the activities of talking and hearing along with intermittent physical activities of stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, standing, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping and repetitive motion.

Hours: Regular Part Time with a Variable Schedule
Academic Year – 15-20 hours/week: Monday through Friday between 2:30 PM and 5:30PM
Summer – up to 40 hours/week: Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM
This schedule may vary slightly based on Club hours and at the discretion of the Branch Director. Extra hours as needed for special events.
