The Global Cellulose Fibers Business is currently seeking a laboratory technician to support the Customer Technical Solutions (CTS) Team at our Innovation Center in Federal Way, WA. The primary responsibilities of this hands-on role includes physical processing and testing of fluff pulps and consumer absorbent products (diapers, feminine hygiene and adult incontinence). The role specifically supports the CTS Team by helping customers better understand the benefits of our products when used in their applications. The team also supports Innovation and Marketing teams by testing new products and providing intelligence about absorbent product trends.


The incumbent will work under the guidance of scientists or with experienced technicians. This position reports into the Customer Technical Solutions organization.


Key Functions:


  • Conduct hazard assessments and develop job safety analyses for all work performed
  • Accurately perform testing following pre-established protocols in a timely manner
  • Perform necessary equipment calibration and adhere to lab quality controls
  • Accurately record data in Sample Manager and summarize as needed
  • Engagement in site safety program & training
  • Work productively and collaboratively in team setting to achieve customer and project objectives

Qualifications:


  • 2 years of formal training in basic science with an Associate of Science Degree or Vocational equivalent desired, alternatively a 4 year degree.
  • Experience working safely in a laboratory or industrial R&D/manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain good management of time with little supervision
  • Be able to lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, climb steps and ladders, and stand or work up to three hours at a time for 10-13 hours when necessary
