DIVISION / LOCATION: Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division / Can be situated onsite in Austin TX or Remote USA (East Coast preferred)
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Technical Editor will review all documentation for a large global collaborative team in a Life Sciences industry to meet corporate and department standards. This role will support technical writers in different time zones.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Implement department style guide, the Microsoft style guide, and basic American English standards of grammar.
- Fact check quotes, trademark acknowledgements, and footnote citations.
- Apply the different documentation styles specific to hardware, software, marketing, training, API, or release notes. Recognize and apply different rules for PDF and online results (.chm or HTML).
- Ensure adherence to rules regarding screenshots, photos, line drawings, and flowcharts.
- Coordinate with writers to allow for multiple rounds of reviews while meeting project goals.
- Teach by editing: Especially with new writers, teach the Thermo style and documentation rules as you edit.
HOW WILL YOU GET HERE?
Education and Experience
- BA in English or Journalism or related area
- 2+ years professional experience in publishing, content production, or technical writing or editing
- Experience handling content for different audiences and formats
- Knowledge of XML-based modular content is preferred.
