Reporting directly to the Director – Imaging Support, the System Administrator - Imaging Support PACs is responsible for supporting MedVet and VetRad PACs with real time and scheduled support. The system administrator will work in conjunction with MedVet IT, networking and OEM vendors to problem solve and plan workflows. This role requires excellent communication with our Radiologists and leadership to resolve clinical workflow issues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage PACS related issues in hospital and work with Vendor and/or MedVet IT to resolve issues, manage software updates and request/manage implementation of feature updates
- Assist with PACS archive and implementation of new PACS and works closely with MedVet IT and vendors to manage migration of archived data
- Administrator and primary support for Teleradiology Platform (MedVet RIS included)
- Responsible for day-to-day operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto routing, prefetching and other related activities
- Works closely with Teleradiology referral partners and radiology departments across MedVet to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling
- Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems, working closely with radiologists, radiology team members and Leadership.
- Works closely with the VP of Medical Technology, Director of Teleradiology and the Regional Advanced Imaging Technologist, in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Reviews feedback, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.
- Works closely with radiologists, VetRad Support and radiology team members to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes.
- Collaborate with MSS team to develop training material for Teleradiology Platform and other radiology software as needed.
- Works closely with Director of Teleradiology, VetRad Medical Director and VetRad Support Team on roll out of Teleradiology Platform to Teleradiology Referral Partners and MedVet Hospitals.
- Works with Imaging Support team members to implement radiology SOPs in MedVet hospitals and execute workflow goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in PACs management. Experience in the healthcare and/or veterinary industry is a plus but not required. In addition, this position requires:
- Proven track record of successful PACs administration/management in a multi-center facility.
- Credentialed technician, human medical licensure or appropriate computer experience and certification preferred
- Demonstrable problem solving skills specific to PACs, networking and IT
- Clear communications skills
- Established radiology professional with a technical background in clinical diagnostic radiology. ARRT certification with credentialing in MRI or CT is preferred
- 3 to 5 year of PACS and RIS management in a hospital or outpatient setting and is preferred but not required. Management of multiple sites is preferred
- Experience with RIS/PACS upgrades or complete systems replacement.
- Interest in improving systems and processes
- Excellent self-starter with proven time management skills
- PACs management and coordinating workflow & problem solving with clinical, operational and referral partners.
- Basic knowledge of IT networking and IT networking processes
- 20 to 30% travel may be required
