  • POSITION SUMMARY
      The Surgery Technology Support Specialist provides technical and operational support of Operating Room technology and equipment including Image Guiding System, Microscopes, Robotic, and other surgical equipment. This position sets standards and policy of how to load and maintain software as well as coordinates with BioMed for preventive maintenance and repair of operating room equipment. Supports and implements patient safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
      Education and Experience:
        Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field or 2-4 years of equivalent work experience in IT support. Two years experience with medical terminology.
      License/Certificates:
        N/A

  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
      • Responsible to operate and troubleshoot Image Guidance Equipment and all associated programs and protocols (including loading images with correct protocols to surgeon specifications, taking snapshots, and uploading images to the patient’s electronic medical record).
      • Set up video towers and ensure all capabilities are operating as expected.
      • Assist with and provide troubleshooting of Operating Room Integration Systems.
      • Notify BioMed for preventative maintenance and repairs when necessary.
      • Set up and connect Robotic System Components.
      • Collaborate with Information Technology staff.
      • Responsible to understand and operate all surgical tables.
      • Set up and provides troubleshooting of Microscopes and associated components (i.e. foot pedals, etc.). Biomed for preventative maintenance and repairs when needed.
      • Orientate new staff to basic understanding of equipment and operating room tables.
      • Educates all staff on proper care and cleaning of all equipment.
      • Review equipment instructional guides and makes recommendations/changes as needed.
      • Assist with patient care to include positioning, transferring, etc.
      • Work in support of the team to accomplish safe patient care and efficient use of resources.
      • Work in conjunction with industry personnel regarding troubleshooting and computer system updates.
      • Demonstrates Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
