THESE ARE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITIONS.

These National Guard positions are for TWO WG-5801-08 SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1193000 in SPMD 5125 and are part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 5.

APPOINTMENT FACTORS: These are Permanent Excepted Service positions. These are bargaining position.


Responsibilities
  • Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.
  • Assists higher graded mechanics in the repair and/or overhaul of major systems such as internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls.
  • Makes routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components.
  • Determines when parts should be cleaned, adjusted or replaced with standard parts to complete work orders.
  • Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components.
  • Performs minor body and fender, or other metal repairs.
  • Performs limited repairs and routine maintenance on small arms and accessory equipment by replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Makes minor repairs to canvas and leather items using bonding/sealing compounds and hand tools such as awls, canvas needles etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment.

    Maximum Military Grade - Warrant Officer - WO1 (W-1)

    Warrant Officer - CMF 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92 or 94; MOS 882A

    Enlisted - CMF 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92 or 94

    Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).



    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work

    WG-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 12 months of specialized experience in removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts and components of combat, tactical, commercial, automotive, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Experience must also demonstrate basic understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other non-mechanical systems theories, and skill to replace, fit, install and adjust systems. Experience in reading and interpreting parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, and schematics.
