This role plants a firm seed to create a dedicated supply chain team at Firefly and comes with potential upward mobility if the candidate performs accordingly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Firefly supply chain team (including direct materials, manufacturing and component suppliers) to meet company goals, including:
- Supplier development
- Create a vetting process to onboard new vendors against the company need, ranging from raw metal to machining job shops to full blow production avionics hardware
- Grow the supply chain to deliver piece parts, subassemblies or complete assemblies with no touch-time or intervention
- Develop methods to understand vendors variable lead times against other demands on their business
- Create metrics and information flow paths to ensure healthy relationships and deliverables at each vendor
- Prepare “instruction to bidders” as part of the Request for Quote (RFQ) process and a screening system to objectively compare potential suppliers.
- Seeks win-win solutions for all internal and external parties through Long Term Agreements and contracts where possible
- Shipping, Receiving and Inventory
- Manage the inventory team to ensure proper stock counts and kitting processes to meet AS9100 requirements and internal demands
- Work with quality to ensure all items are traceable to the desired source
- Provide strategic direction on physical sizing and technologies to deploy to minimize touch time in inventory
- Develop capacity around growing company needs for the shipping and receiving area
- Purchasing Process and Cost Accounting
- Partner with Sales and Business Units to facilitate S & OP and long-range planning processes
- Provide financial modeling and drive to lower material and processing costs
- Understand the drivers of cost and develop strategies to minimize the true cost for R&D compared to desired lead times.
- Manage and track raw material costs and inform engineering on performance opportunities with material cost reductions
- Demand Planning & Fulfillment
- Develop purchasing process through our ERP system to ensure on-time demand signals released to vendors
- Ensure material and process supply can ramp against near and future company demands
- Develop measurable transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree: Specialty in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering with MBA;
- 5+ years’ experience handling, negotiating, problem solving issues with suppliers
- Significant ERP System Experience (Oracle, SAP, other), inclusive of shop floor control systems
- Competent in SQL or equivalent databases to quickly extract presentation data
- Willingness and desire for continuous improvement, showing initiative by undertaking self-development activities, seeking increased responsibilities, and taking advantage of learning opportunities
- Root Cause/Corrective Action Skills
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in two or more of the following: Material Planning, Demand Planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Inventory Management, Rough Cut Capacity Planning, or Production Planning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to identify issues and develop and implement solutions to meet departmental and Company goals
- Proven ability to organize, analyze and present data and relate findings to business
- Solid business acumen and effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
Desired
- APICS or ISM certified
- Demonstrated knowledge in metalworking, 3D printing, coatings and/or carbon fiber technologies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to remotely implement Lean & Six Sigma process improvements
- Experience in a large, complex multifaceted electronics design & manufacturing environment
