About the Position: This position is with the 416th Theater Engineer Command, 647th Regional Support Group (RSG) located in Wichita, Kansas.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor facility coordination operations
  • Exercise control in the name of the Commander
  • Establish internal auditing controls to ensure all funds are expended
  • Coordinate unit preparation for Command and staff visits, inspections, and similar visits.
  • Advise the Commander and staff on policy matters on all phases of the Army Reserve program
  • Maintain liaison with higher headquarters, other commands, and the general public
  • Speak for the Commander on matters related to the command and the reserve program
  • Review incoming directives, policies, and instructions from higher headquarters
  • Review the status of organizations training programs and activities
  • Ensure Reserve Center(s) are efficiently operated using current directives and regulations
  • Exercise supervision over the daily activities of a full-time staff
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures
  • Identify training needs of employees to assure the conduct of such training
  • Assign work to subordinates based on the capabilities of employees

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes directing, establishing, or coordinating operations plans and programs for a unit or activity in areas of mobilization readiness, contingency planning, deployment, training, resources, and/or security, and interpret, disseminate guidance, perform evaluations or inspections to ensure unit readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education

    • Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or changes to lower grade may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
    • Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 1 year, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointment has the potential to be extended beyond six years up to eight years.
