Overview: The Supervisor, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) supports the continuous improvement, implementation, and compliance of the environmental, health and safety programs. The Supervisor, EHS is responsible for assessing the company's workflows based on risk levels and determining what practices are necessary to keep employees safe on the job. The Supervisor, EHS will collaborate within the organization to foster an environment of continuous improvement, safety awareness, and employee engagement. The Supervisor, EHS always responds to emergency environmental and/or safety situations and works alongside EHS specialists providing support and direction according to established policies and management guidance. They work on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors, and they exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine the appropriate action.Responsibilities:

  • Recommend changes to health and safety policies and procedures and implement a continuous safety training plan for all employees. Develop and implement risk assessment system for all functions and tasks. Organize and manage organization-wide safety committee.
  • Oversee a team of EHS Specialists and collaboratively ensure all employees are trained properly on safety procedures. Conduct new employee safety orientation and contractor safety training.
  • Assure organizational compliance with all environmental and safety regulations and standards.
  • Lead and support safety audits and inspections. Plan and conduct emergency drills.
  • Update all safety and environmental reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Coordinate the work of outside contractors within the EHS scope and monitor their performance.
  • Maintain department metrics and provide management with reports as needed.
  • Support Management from other functional areas to inspect workplace to identify health and safety hazards and take actions to correct and prevent them. Follow up on accidents, incidents, near misses, and employee safety concerns. Oversee all OSHA reporting aspects.
  • Manage and review hazardous waste program in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations and standards. Ensure Bloodborne Pathogens Program, Serum Program, Chemical Hygiene Program and Respiratory Protection Program comply with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience, including 0-2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
